Have you ever heard of National Novel Writing Month? If not, check out their homepage and consider taking part! It’s a non-profit event where people from all over the world try to manage to write 50.000 words within the month of november. There are all kinds of stories and people, interesting forums and it really is amazing how creative you can get if you only try.
I’ve been doing Nano only once so far (and won, eventhough I didn’t manage to finnish the story, it’s about halfway ready and I never got around finnishing it. One day I will, though). I actually didn’t consider taking part this year due to a full schedule. Three jobs plus university sure take time.
But I’d love to write again, I haven’t really done any creative writing in about a year or even longer. Since my best friend is pretty much into reading stories people post online, mostly fanfictions, and constantly complains that these stories go wrong / end wrong / whatnot, I thought it might be nice to use NaNo to write a story for her. A truly heartbreaking but happily ever after lovestory, just the right thing to relax when you come home from a stressful day at work and want escapism. I’ll have it printed and bound and then will have a great christmas present for her.
So if you find time, take out your notebooks, scribble down some inspirational ideas and then just write away. It’s so much fun, and writing becomes a part of your routine when you do it on a more or less daily basis.
@Jane from smallfabricofmylife I know you’ve taken part before, what did you write? And do you plan to re-enter the fun?
Yes, I will definitely be doing it again.
I finished last year and cried when I got to the last day and mad eit.
My novel was told in flashback by an elderly woman reliving the dangerous days of the 1930s. It would need a lot of work to bring it up to scratch which I may do one day but I have anothe rnovel ready for NaNoWriMo this year about a woman called Marilyn who “loses” her husband, job and home on the same day!
great that you take part again! lets share our experiences then! If you want to add me to your writing buddies at the nano hp, look for fuuhase!
My novel in 2007 is a childrens / young aldut / every age story about a boy with a special talent for telling stories, which is enhanced by a gift from the faeries. One day he realises that stories start to disappear and, together with his newly won fairy friend, sets out to find out why that happens and where they go.
I only came through to half of it, but atm lack time and somehow also courage to go on writing. maybe taking part in this years Nano again, getting into writing again, will help me to finish this story. It’s very very dear to me, so I hope I’ll get through to it’s end.
